Proper driver assignment ensures routes are executed efficiently and drivers are utilized effectively. This guide covers how to assign, reassign, and manage driver-route relationships.
Assignment Methods
Manual Assignment
- Open the route in Route Builder
- Click Assign Driver
- Select from available drivers
- Choose a vehicle (if not already set)
- Confirm
Bulk Assignment
- Select multiple routes
- Click Assign Drivers
- EvoDax suggests assignments based on:
- Driver availability
- Driver location/home base
- Vehicle assignments
- Route capacity
Auto-Assignment
When using auto-route generation:
- Enable "Auto-Assign Drivers"
- Drivers are matched to routes automatically
- Review and adjust as needed
Driver Availability
Before assigning, check availability:

Vehicle Pairing
When assigning a driver, also assign a vehicle:
Driver's Default Vehicle
If driver has a regular vehicle:
- Auto-selected when assigning driver
- Can override if needed
Select Different Vehicle
- In assignment panel, click Change Vehicle
- Select from available vehicles
- Consider capacity requirements
Vehicle Capacity Check
System warns if:
- Route weight exceeds vehicle capacity
- Route volume exceeds space
- Too many stops for vehicle type
Reassigning Drivers
If you need to change a driver:
- Open the route
- Click Reassign Driver
- Select new driver
- Confirm the change
The original driver is notified and route is removed from their app.

Driver App Integration
Once assigned:
- Driver sees route in their app
- Can review stops and addresses

Configure assignment notifications:
- Push notification to driver app
- Email summary of route
- SMS alert for urgent routes

Scheduling Future Routes
Assign drivers in advance:
- Create routes for future dates
- Assign drivers now
- They'll see routes on the day
- Adjust if availability changes
Team Capacity Planning
Use the Schedule View to see:
- Driver availability by day
- Routes assigned to each driver
- Gaps in coverage
- Overtime risks
