What Auto-Routing Does
The optimization engine:
- Groups deliveries by geographic area
- Orders stops to minimize travel time
- Respects delivery time windows
- Balances workload across routes
- Considers vehicle capacity
Running Auto-Route Generation
- Go to Route Builder
- Click Auto-Generate Routes
- Configure options:
- Date - Which day to plan
- Warehouse - Starting location
- Strategy - Optimization approach
- Click Generate Preview
- Review suggested routes
- Accept or modify
Configuration Options
Max Deliveries Per Route
Set the maximum stops per route:
- 10-15 for time-sensitive deliveries
- 20-30 for standard deliveries
- 40+ for high-density urban areas
Auto-Assign Drivers
- ON: Drivers assigned automatically
- OFF: Routes created without drivers
Respect Time Windows
- ON: Honors delivery time preferences
- OFF: Optimizes purely for distance

Time Window Handling
Delivery time windows affect routing:
- Hard windows: Must deliver within this time (e.g., restaurant lunch delivery)
- Soft windows: Preferred time, flexible if needed
Configure time window strictness in Settings.
Vehicle Capacity Constraints
Routes consider vehicle limits:
- Weight capacity - Don't exceed max load
- Volume capacity - Physical space limits
- Stop limits - Maximum deliveries
Vehicles are matched to routes automatically.
Optimization Quality
Factors that improve results:
- Accurate address geocoding
- Realistic time windows
- Correct vehicle capacities
- Up-to-date traffic data
Manual Override
You can always:
- Reorder stops after auto-generate
- Move deliveries between routes
- Add/remove stops manually
- Change driver assignments
Scheduled Auto-Generation
Set up automatic daily routing:
- Go to Settings > Routing
- Enable Auto-Generate Daily
- Set generation time (e.g., 4:00 AM)
- Configure default options
- Review routes each morning
